At one end, people will only stop trampling over you if you have the means to injure or kill them.
On the other extreme end, you can find people with such strong bonds that they would give their lives to protect each other.
In the end, the most important thing is still the weapon. To be deprived of it means that you will get trampled over by assholes AND be unable to defend your loved ones from getting fucked.
